Biography
Dr. Van Brummen was raised in Jakarta, Indonesia until she was five years old, and spent the remainder of her childhood in Houston, Texas. She graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with degrees in Honors Biology and Anthropology and a minor in French. Afterwards, she attended medical school at the McGovern Medical School at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. It was there that she became interested in oculofacial trauma and orbital surgery. This was further affirmed during her residency at the University of Washington working trauma cases at Harborview Medical Center. Dr. Van Brummen found additional passion working in pediatrics, and ultimately decided to pursue two fellowships.
After completing a Pediatric Ophthalmology Fellowship, followed by an American Society of Ophthalmic and Plastic Reconstructive Surgery (ASOPRS) fellowship at the University of Washington, she now cares for both adult and pediatric patients as an Acting Assistant Professor in the Department of Ophthalmology here at the University of Washington.
