Don Minckler, MD gives Honored Alum lecture at 51st annual Resident Alumni Day

The University of Washington Department of Ophthalmology held its 51st Annual UW Resident Alumni Day on Saturday, June 14, 2025.

The event featured research presentations from within the University of Washington and from distinguished guest speakers. The Honored Alum Speaker, Don Minckler, MD, MS of University of California Irvine, UW Ophthalmology residency class of 1973, spoke on “Axonal Transport’s Importance to Clinical Ophthalmology.”The keynote speaker was Felipe Medeiros, MD, PhD from the University of Miami Bascom Palmer Eye Institute.

Eight trainees presented their research at Resident Alumni Day. Gayathri Tummala, MD, fourth-year resident, received the Resident Research Award for her outstanding work.
